Curriculum

The School Curriculum is carefully planned and based on the National Curriculum. It is in line with the best established education principles, combined with modern approaches to teaching.

Classes are normally limited to 21, enabling the teacher to give individual attention to each child.

The lessons in Kindergarten lay the foundations of Reading, Spelling, Writing and Mathematics. These subjects gradually develop so that all children have a good grounding, from which to progress to second level education. At the same time habits are being formed in concentration, continued effort and self-reliance and the children learn to work and play with others.

Other subjects in the curriculum include Social Environmental & Scientific Studies, English. Irish and French. A Social Personal and Health programme is followed. Religious Education is on a non-denominational basis and is optional. The younger pupils have news times while the older pupils have current affairs classes. All pupils have PE. In the spring term Form 6 give a performance of Gym, Dance, Music and Drama..
