Extra curricular activities include Drama, Choir and Chess

Drama and Music

Singing and music appreciation classes are available to all classes and percussion instruments are provided. We have two music rooms in the school where individual piano and group lessons for other instruments are held. In December parents are invited to see class plays in which every child takes part and then enjoy their Christmas party.

Handwork

There are many opportunities for self-expression in creative handwork which includes a variety of crafts. We have a recently refurbished art room and free expression in painting is encouraged throughout the school. An exhibition of pupils’ work is held in June.

Educational Trips

There are various outings throughout the year to such places as the Museums, Trinity College, the National Gallery, Christ Church Cathedral, concert performances, The Ark and Bull Island as well as annual excursions further a field.

Library

Children in all classes are encouraged to use and value the school library and from Form 1 pupils may borrow books. Each class enjoy its own class library.

Computers

Each class is equipped with its own PC. Children are given regular access to develop new computer skills, progressing from use of CD ROM games to typing skills and using applications. Provision for IT in the school is continually developing to reflect modern advances.

Sport

Swimming and Games are optional. Games are played on local pitches the children travel by private bus. Swimming starts from Kindergarten ‘B’. Games start from the summer term in Form 2. Members of Forms 3,4,5 and 6 may play games for three school terms. Hockey is played in the autumn and spring terms. Summer activities include cricket, tennis, athletics and rounders. Junior and Senior Sports days are held separately to allow pupils to participate in an informal atmosphere.
