Form Three’s Maori Masterpieces!

Form Three have been learning about the Maoris in History.

We discovered that they were the first people to settle in New Zealand and that they are famous for their carving and weaving.   Maori people do a war dance called the “haka” which we watched on YouTube.   Its sometimes used as a challenge and other times as a welcome.  The New Zealand rugby team perform the haka before each match.   We translated the ‘Kapa O Pango’ which is the All Blacks haka into English so we could understand it.

We also made our own Maori masks using traditional colours and we presented them to the school at our Assembly.  We hope you like photos of our Maori masks.
