Form 3 had lots of fun in Science this week looking at Magnets. Our class split into four groups and each group tested different objects to see if they had iron in them. We discovered that some objects like a plastic spoon, wooden ruler and rubber did not magnetise. Surprisingly neither did the coins or jewellery! The magnet did stick to the screw key and can, it also stuck to some other objects, such as the bell, scissors and staples. Our conclusion was that magnets will stick to objects with iron in them but not all metal objects contain iron, some may have aluminium, copper, zinc, etc. We also learnt that many machines found in our homes use magnets like our washing machine, television and electric fan.
We hope you enjoyed reading our findings!
