CoderDojo Welcomes Form 2
The second CoderDojo session took place last Saturday for Forms 3-6 and it was the first coding session for Form 2, who hit the ground running. We had 36 children attending and there was great coding being done. A big thanks to all the mentors for helping along with some past pupils.
Beginner Scratch
Form 2 started learning Scratch with Teddy. They covered a lot of basics, from moving the cat sprite across the screen and using the pen tool. Here are some pictures:
Hardware Zone
There was great work done with the Kano kits, where the children built and worked with the computers, helped by Samuel and Mike.
Advanced Scratch
Niall Walsh taught Scratch for advanced users. They are working on group and individual projects.
Python
This week saw the introduction of Python. This programming language is one of the most popular and pervasive programming languages around today, and powers websites such as YouTube, DropBox, Instagram, Pinterest (to name just a few).
Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in two weeks time.
